1.
Write down your goal of becoming healthy and smoke
free.
2.
Write down all of your reasons for quitting smoking
and write down all of the benefits you get from stopping. This will create
an awareness of how much you want to quit.
3.
Remove all ashtrays from your house, car and areas
of use. Clean all of these areas.
4.
Place an elastic band on your wrist and anytime you
get a craving, pull the elastic. This will remind you to decide not to
smoke. Write down the time of your craving and keep track of when you
experience your cravings the most.
5.
Increase your exercise program. This healthy habit
will replace your unhealthy habit of smoking.
6.
Drink at least 8 – 10 glasses of water per day.
This will flush your system and keep your bodily systems functioning
effectively.
7.
Start eating healthy. Raw vegetables and fruits
can be used as a reward instead of cigarettes.
8.
Create and repeat a positive affirmation. For
example, “I am healthy and smoke free.” Say this affirmation with
confidence and excitement. Some others to try are, “I love myself and my
body,” “Smoking is poison to me” and “I owe myself love and respect.”
9.
Allow yourself to get the proper amount of sleep
each night. A general guide is 6 – 10 hours of sleep per night.
10.
Imagine yourself as calm and relaxed in situations
where you used to smoke. “Act as if” you are a non-smoker and you will
become a non-smoker. |
