Summer has arrived and it
is now time to experience the magnificence of nature. Being outdoors is a
great way to connect with the magnificent beauty and power of creation.
“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play with your hair.” ~ Khalil Gibran ~
A year ago my motorhome
broke down while I was on tour performing. I was frustrated and worried I
wouldn’t make my next performance. In the midst of my worrying I caught a
glimpse of a breathtaking aqua colored lake. I was suddenly mesmerized by
the foliage, plants, and natural running streams interacting with the aqua
lake. That is why we say ‘what a view’ because there is so much beauty to
take in and feast our eyes upon.
I even caught a glimpse of
a Black Bear a few hundred yards away. At that moment I let go of all my
worries and felt as though I was a part of a much bigger and meaningful
world. I was in awe of the power, simplicity, and beauty of nature. When we
stop and appreciate Mother Nature we recognize that she is a mirror that
reflects our own beauty, power, and growth; we understand that we all come
from the same creator and that we are all interconnected.
“To forget how to dig the earth and tend to the
soil is to forget ourselves.”
~ Mohandas K. Ghandi ~
In the beautiful summer
months here are ways to connect with nature:
Go Camping:
While you are camping go fishing and feel the stillness of the water; sleep
under the stars and take in the vastness of the universe; enjoy the company
of friends and family as you appreciate your growth over the years with one
another.
Go Hiking/Walking:
Hiking on a trail or making your own fresh path on a mountain allows you the
opportunity to breathe in the fresh air and observe the trees, plants, and
animals in a humble adoration. You can also do a silent hike which allows
you to be more focused on all the aspects of nature including sight, sound,
and the very magical breath of Mother Nature.
Garden:
Although I very rarely garden, my Dad inspired me to water the flowers and
my garden that he and my Aunt had planted. While watering I felt so serene
and peaceful as the water flowed to the flowers and the plants. I watched
the plants and flowers take in the moisture with a thank you as they seemed
to extend towards the sun. Gardening and planting flowers allows you to be
part of the growth process of nature.
Time flies, summer goes by
quickly, and nature begins her cycle again, so make the most of it and get
outdoors and experience the magic of nature.
“The goal in life is to live in agreement with nature.”
~ Zeno ~
