The universe in which we
live is in a constant state of change. It is always moving or vibrating
which is evident in the change of the seasons, the ebb and flow of the
tides, and the coming and going of material possessions. In your life you
can both adopt and grow with change or you can resist it.
“Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”
~ Karen Kaiser Clark ~
Growth is a fundamental
desire of all human beings. Yet many people become comfortable or complacent
and stuck in their “comfort zone.” Like a muscle that needs resistance to
grow, people need challenges to get them to expand.
Following are three ways
that will pull you forward, make room for the new, and expand yourself:
1.
Create future vision.
The first step to moving forward is by knowing what you want and to
continually see it in front of you. Write down what your ideal life looks
like. Include all areas of your life, such as career, health, family,
relationships, finances, recreation, etc. Next, identify the long-term (over
one year) and short-term (up to one year) goals that you want to accomplish
to help mold your ideal life. A habit that I have formed with my staff is to
set daily goals that are supported by weekly goals. This allows you to build
momentum and keep you focused on what is important.
“Where there is no vision, the people parish.”
~ Proverbs 29:18 ~
2.
Read stimulating books.
Reading non-fiction books stimulates your brain and paves the pathways to
greater intelligence. Instead of watching TV or listening to your iPod, pick
up a book that can expand your mind. In my experience, reading allowed me to
learn valuable skills and acquire knowledge to become more happy and
successful. Make it a point to read one book every month. The following five
books have changed my life and led to phenomenal insights:
·
Conversations with God,
by Neale Donald Walsch
·
7 Strategies for Wealth & Happiness,
by Jim Rohn
·
The Secret of Ages, by Robert Collier
·
Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks
·
As a Man Thinketh, by James Allen
“You
will be the same person in five years as you are today
except for the people you meet and the books you read.”
~ Charlie “Tremendous” Jones ~
3.
Clean up your clutter.
Clutter is any mess you
have that draws your attention away from what is important. Raymond Aaron
defines a mess as, “A lock on the gate that keeps abundance out.” Look
around your environment and identify what clutter needs cleaning. For
example, clean out your clothes closet and give away clothes you have not
used in the last year. Make a point to clean up any mess in your car,
garage, and house. Once you make it a habit of cleaning and organizing your
outer environment, you will be able to focus more clearly on your goals.
You have a choice to become
more than who you are. You have an unlimited amount of power (courage),
intelligence (light), and love (compassion) to continually become more
magnificent. My wish for you is to use your mind power and expand every day.
